Geneva LIVE: 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB
Designed to replace the 458 Italia, the 488 GTB is powered by a downsized 3.9-liter V8 engine.
Ferrari has introduced an update of the 458 Italia called 488 GTB. Scheduled to go on sale in time for the 2016 model year, the 488 GTB will made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The big news for 2016 is that the 488 GTB trades the Italia's naturally-aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine for a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 that makes 661 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 560 lb-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. An updated seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that features a built-in torque management function sends the 488 from zero to 62 mph in three seconds flat, from zero to 124 mph in 8.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 205 mph.
The changes inside are relatively minor and largely limited to redesigned seats, new switches and an improved infotainment system.
The 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB will go on sale before the end of the year. Its topless counterpart will be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show that will open its doors in September.
