Elon Musk alleges 'damaging sabotage' by disgruntled worker

The employee allegedly admitted to modifying the company\'s manufacturing code and exporting \"large amounts of highly sensitive Tesla data.\"

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has reportedly warned employees that one of their peers has been fired for conducting sabotage.

"I was dismayed to learn this weekend about a Tesla employee who had conducted quite extensive and damaging sabotage to our operations," he wrote in a letter to employees, according to CNBC.

The sabotage is said to have included making direct code changes to the Tesla Manufacturing Operating System under false usernames and exporting "large amounts of highly sensitive data" to unknown third parties.

Musk is known to be paranoid in some cases, initially believing a SpaceX failure might have been sabotage before discovering an engineering error as the root cause, however the latest findings were apparently admitted by the employee. The disgruntled worker was allegedly passed over for a promotion.

"There may be considerably more to this situation than meets the eye, so the investigation will continue in depth this week," Musk added. "We need to figure out if he was acting alone or with others at Tesla and if he was working with any outside organizations."

The executive has asked employees to be extremely vigilant over the next few weeks as the company attempts to ramp up production volume to 5,000 units per week.
